Before You Decide

What the rest of the market charges

The best-known alternatives range, according to their public data, between roughly 50 and 80 dollars per year per person in their paid plans, and several reserve for those plans things that are here in the free plan: the number of cards or the custom QR. The honest comparison, then, is not "free versus paid," but what's included at each tier. A 70-dollar plan that unlocks unlimited cards solves a different problem than one at 29.90€ that adds lead capture and analytics: you have to look at the list, not the number.

The costs that don't appear on the price tag

  • Reprints. Every change of job title, phone number, company, or brand redesign forces you to reprint paper cards. A box of 250 to 500 units costs between 40€ and 80€ and becomes obsolete the day a detail changes.
  • Mandatory hardware. Some services sell physical NFC cards under their own brand. That's fine if the object is part of your presentation, but it's inventory you have to replenish when new people join or the logo changes.
  • Vendor lock-in. If your QR points to a URL you don't control and the service shuts down or changes policy, the printed QR stops working. This is the argument for owning your domain in Enterprise: the address is yours and survives the provider.
  • Time. Manually copying leads from a dashboard to your CRM costs minutes every week. Webhooks eliminate that; it's worth counting in the calculation when volume grows.

Quality is not the same as price

Something being cheap doesn't make it worse, just as a high price guarantees nothing. The quality of a digital card is measured in concrete, verifiable things before you pay:

  • Will the QR still work in a year, and who controls the URL it points to?
  • Can you export your contacts and leads as CSV whenever you want, or are they locked in?
  • Can you decide whether your card appears in Google—in both directions?
  • Can you protect a specific card with an access code?
  • What exactly happens the day you stop paying?

On that last one: with CardQR the account reverts to the free plan, the cards stay active and accessible at their URLs, and only paid features are disabled until the subscription is reactivated. Nothing is deleted and no printed QR stops working. It's the kind of detail worth asking any service before you sign up, not after.
